Performing in the Evening Show for Adults

Note: This applies to the evening show for perfomers 18 and older. For under 18, go to the Brandon Idol Teen page.

Thanks. We really appreciate your interest in performing.

We're looking for the best performers and the funnest performers. Great singers make a great show, but good entertainers who engage the audience make it a fun show. We're looking for both.

So if you're a talented singer or musician, we want you in the show. But if you're good on stage and can engage the audience, we want you, too.

• Musicians
• Dancers
• Comedians

So here's how it works.

1. You sign up for an audition. (Audition Info)
2. You come to an audition.
3. In early April, we make the final list and contact the performers.
4. Performers pay the $25 entry fee.
5. Optional - Performers can collect donations for their People's Choice score (see below).
6. Performers compete in the final on April 26.

Brandon Idol Contest

On April 26, we'll hold the Brandon Idol competition. Generally upbeat songs are good, but slower songs have scored well, too. The talent score carries more weight, so it makes sense to do your best song or routine. But historically, there are terrific performers who choose upbeat songs that get the crowd going. Those performers have gotten a few extra points for stage presence and have won. But it's up to you.

The Brandon Idol Competition is judged as follows:

• Scored on talent and on stage presence on a scale of 1-10
• The talent score will be multiplied by 2 to give it double weight.

Talent Score , Scored 1-10
For a basis for the score, use the following:

• 10 is an exceptional professional talent--other things not considered (appearance or stage presence for instance), the contestant could perform for high-profile, professional events and recordings
• 5 is a good amateur
• 1…they are brave to try that in public

Stage Presence Score, Scored 1-10
If you want a basis for the score, use the following:

• 10 if the contestant's confidence, audience interaction or other factors were exceptional or significantly contributed to the entertainment value of the act
• 5 if the contestant's confidence, audience interaction or other factors contributed to the entertainment value of the act
• 1 if the contestant performs (everybody gets 1).

People's Choice

All votes in the form of dollars go to any performer's score for the People's Choice. And we take outright bribes for this award. Of course, all the money goes to our charities.

In 2008, performers have the opportunity to collect donations during April. It's completely optional. All donations apply to that performer's People's Choice score.
